FSC Showcases Creative Work from Small Business Contest

PITTSBURGH, PA- FSC Marketing Communications, a full-service marketing communications, advertising and public relations agency based in downtown Pittsburgh, recently completed work for the winner of its small business contest. The contest began in the fall of 2008 and offered $10,000 worth of agency talent to deserving small businesses in need of creative services. Gentech, a leading information technology employment provider based in Monroeville, PA, was selected as a contest winner and partnered with FSC to develop a marketing strategy and new brand identity.

FSC began work for Gentech using its Smart CreativeTM Strategy Development Process. The agency conducted research to identify target audiences, key messaging, company goals and a finalized marketing strategy. Using these findings, FSC also created Gen3, a unique communications tool that allows Gentech to simply and effectively describe its business process.

Following the strategy development, FSC created an updated brand identity for Gentech that expanded on the company's current color palatte and industry position. The creative team at FSC introduced a dot pattern design to complement the technical aspect of the business and the breadth and depth of the firm's IT staffing capabilities. As part of the rebranding work, FSC also created an updated corporate brochure that incorporated the new messaging and brand identity. FSC continues to partner with Gentech on additional projects and most recently began design and programming of a new corporate website.

"We were very pleased with the strategy and creative that FSC developed for us and have elected to continue working with the agency on additional projects beyond the contest parameters," said Stephanie Verona, Gentech President.

FSC developed the idea for the small business contest following the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's 2008 Campaign for a Cause. After winning the Post-Gazette's competition for its Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ad campaign, FSC elected to use part of its winnings to initiate the small business contest and give back to the region.

"The small business contest truly underscores our commitment to the city of Pittsburgh," noted Bryan Brunsell, Creative Director of FSC. "We are proud to have provided a growing company like Gentech with creative work and marketing services that allow them to compete more favorably in the market and continue building their business."
